Veo camera: price, subscription, and the alternative with a phone
The Veo camera (Veo Cam) comes up in every committee discussion as soon as filming matches is mentioned. Here is what it costs according to the official pages, what the subscription requires, and how a club gets the essentials with the phones it already has, for a fraction of the price.
A useful clarification before we start: this is about the Veo sports camera, made by the company of the same name, and not Google's video generator, which is also called Veo. If you type "veo price" into a search engine, you will land on both.
All the Veo prices and specifications below were taken on 9 October 2026 from the manufacturer's official websites, with a link each time. They may have changed since: check before you decide.
What a club looking at Veo wants
Behind the question of price, there are almost always the same needs:
- Film every match in full, without tying up a volunteer behind a camera.
- Quickly find the actions that matter, instead of rewatching 90 minutes.
- Show those actions to players, on their phones, with the coach's comment.
- Stay within an amateur club's budget, season after season.
Keep these four points in mind: they are what the two approaches are compared on.
What a Veo camera does
The Veo Cam 3 is a camera mounted on a large tripod at the side of the pitch. According to Veo's product page (taken on 9 October 2026), it films the whole pitch, then software produces a cropped video that follows the play. The same page shows tripods of 5.2 and 7.4 metres, and advertises up to 6.5 hours of battery life. To watch and analyse the videos in Veo Editor, an active subscription is required for each camera.
Veo also offers Veo Go, which turns two phones into a match camera. According to its product page (taken on 9 October 2026), both phones must be iPhones (iPhone 11 or newer, iOS 17 minimum), a subscription is needed, and no price was displayed.
The price of the camera
On shop.veo.co, Veo's European shop, the FAQ states on 9 October 2026 that the camera costs 999 euros, excluding VAT. Delivery is free in the European Union, but Switzerland is excluded: 79 euros for delivery. No price in Swiss francs appears on the pages read.
The subscription, mandatory for each camera
This is the point to understand properly before signing. The shop states it plainly: a subscription is always required for each Veo Cam, and it starts on the day the camera is linked to the club's account.
- Amount: the shop.veo.co FAQ gives a range of 45 to 165 euros per month, depending on the size of the team (taken on 9 October 2026). The amounts for each plan were not displayed.
- Terms: monthly, six months, one year or two years. The longer the commitment, the less each month costs.
- Extra options: Veo Analytics is paid for separately.
- Free trial: the shop does not mention one.
The calculation, with the range as displayed: the first year comes to 999 euros plus twelve months of subscription, that is between 1,539 and 2,979 euros excluding VAT, not including delivery and options. In the following years the subscription continues, and a second camera requires a second subscription.
The same thing with the club's phones
TactiCam starts from a simple idea: the club already has cameras, which are its staff's phones. An iPhone or Android, a tripod, and the app opens in the browser, with nothing to buy. Let us go back over the four needs.
- Film the whole match with nobody behind the camera. In Rec Mode, classic recording, the phone placed on its tripod films the match from start to finish. The coach can place markers as the game goes on, from their own phone acting as a remote: they find them afterwards in the video, at the right moment. An external battery is enough to last the duration.
- Find the actions without rewatching the match. In Recall Mode, the coach taps after an action, from the bench, and TactiCam keeps the seconds before the tap (short, medium, long, or a chosen length up to 30 seconds). At the end of the match, the clips are already filed in the Video Room.
- Show them to players. In the Video Room, the coach slows down to a quarter of the speed, steps frame by frame, draws arrows and zones, and leaves a comment anchored to the exact moment. Each player has a free-for-life account to see their clips on their phone.
- The budget. The Team subscription is listed at 20 euros incl. VAT per month (19 Swiss francs), or 200 euros per year with two months free, on tacticam.app on 9 October 2026. No kit to buy, no delivery.
For a large pitch, two phones side by side share the width thanks to Panorama (in beta), and several phones can film the same match from different angles with Multicam (in beta). Placement and the coverage calculation are in filming the whole pitch with a phone. A video filmed with another camera can also be imported.
The coach also records their statistics from the clips (goals, assists, shots, depending on the sport) and TactiCam adds them up per player and per match, with an exportable Team Stats page. Videos are hosted in Switzerland, and the app speaks French, German, Italian, English and Spanish.
The comparison in one line per need
- Kit: a Veo camera at 999 euros excl. VAT plus tripod and delivery, against the phones already in the staff's bag.
- Subscription: 45 to 165 euros per month excl. VAT per camera with Veo, against 20 euros per month for a team with TactiCam.
- Phones accepted: iPhone only for Veo Go, iPhone and Android for TactiCam.
- Trial: not mentioned on the Veo shop, 14 days without a bank card with TactiCam.
- Players: free-for-life account with TactiCam to see the clips and comments.
TactiCam does not automatically reframe the video on the ball: the phone films the frame where it was placed, which, placed high up, shows exactly what the coach wants to see, the positioning of all the players, including those far from the ball.
Three questions to decide
- Does the club have 1,500 to 3,000 euros to commit in the first year for a single camera?
- Does the coach want the whole match, or mostly the actions to work on again on Tuesday?
- Does the club always play on the same pitch, or in several halls and stadiums, where a phone moves around more easily than a tripod several metres tall?
For most amateur clubs, the answer leads to the phone. The simplest way is to try it on a real match: the coach trial lasts 14 days, without a bank card, and starts when the team is created. Players have a free-for-life account. If the team does not continue, it goes read-only and keeps all its clips viewable.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Veo camera cost?
On 9 October 2026, the European shop shop.veo.co lists 999 euros excluding VAT for the camera, plus 79 euros delivery to Switzerland. A mandatory subscription has to be added, from 45 to 165 euros per month depending on the size of the team according to the same shop.
Can you use a Veo camera without a subscription?
According to Veo, no: an active subscription is required for each camera in order to watch and analyse the videos. The subscription starts when the camera is linked to the club's account.
Can you film a whole match with a phone instead of a Veo camera?
Yes. With TactiCam, the phone placed on a tripod films the whole match in Rec Mode, with nobody behind it, and the coach keeps the chosen actions from their own phone with Recall Mode. iPhone and Android both work, with no kit to buy.
